Package: nvidia-glx Version: 1.0.6629+1-1 Severity: Important

The current Nvidia driver has known problems with some older GPU:s, for example on my GeForce2MX400 the machine freezes solid when switching from X to console and back, or when terminating X by logging out or CTRL+Backspace.

Downgrading to the previous version (1.0.6111 using snapshot from snapshot.debian.net) solves the problem. This is also the solution recommended by Nvidia for affected GPU:s until a version is released that fixes the compatibility problems with the driver.

This is reproducible using the following Debian kernel versions in Debian Testing: 2.4.27-2-386, 2.6.8-2-686, 2.6.8-2-686-smp
and a homegrown kernel compilation of 2.4.24 on a AMD K6-III system using the same graphics adapter.
