Why would you want 2.6 packages? The 2.6 kernel includes ALSA drivers
already, and providing alsa-modules packages would be of use for a very
small percentage of the Debian users.

The version of alsa in 2.6.8 is, I think, only 1.0.4; but packages for 1.0.8 will soon be entering sarge. I guess I am just trying to make life easier for the users who have hardware that doesn't work on the 9-month-old version of alsa, including me. :)
