Hello David,

I understand you gave the free hand on upping the severity in a previous mail,
so why do you disregard this now ? Anyway, i have here an extract of a bug
report concerning this issue, and you will judge by yourself if this don't
enter in the category of "makes the whole system unusable" :

| Started using it. Fine at first, then the great slowdown. Slowdown to useless.
| Ten minutes to reboot, then fine again.
|
| Looked closely at top. And there it was. swf_play. Four instances each
| claiming 25%+ of cpu. Quit Firefox and swf_play remains+as a memory hog.
|
| Rebooted and carefully watched top. Each time I loaded a webpage with Flash,
| swf_play loaded. At three instances, noticable
| +slowdown. At four, the great slow down. Recoverable (by me) only through
| reboot. Kill pid and 'End Process' would not shut
| +down the instances of swf_play.

This was not the case for previous versions of swf-player, so i think your
opinion that it is merely a process eating lot of CPU power is unfunded. This
is on a 1GHz G4 with 256MB of ram, not some slow m68k box. Neither is the
1.6MHz P4 mentioned by someone else.

I let it to your discretion to reup the severity, but i don't think it
acceptable to ship sarge with a package that can easily make the system crawl
to unusability.

Friendly,

Sven Luther
