Package: unison
Version: 2.9.1-2
Severity: minor
The manual seems to be out of date. I tried to contact the upstream
authors directly, but all the addresses I found require me to
subscribe to some kind of mailing list (e.g., on Yahoo). Since I use
the Debian version I report them here so you can forward them (and
possible apply a patch in the meantime).
Besides the points already mentioned in other bug reports, I found two
more issues
a) Both CVS and Unison can be used to keep a remote replica of
a directory structure up to date with a central
repository. Both are capable of propagating updates in both
directions and recognizing conflicting updates. Both use
the rsync protocol for file transfer.
This is not correct. CVS does not use the rsync protocoll. CVS
uses a text based diff-mechanism, while rsync is a younger, binary
diff mechanism (I don't know the exact terms, you might want to
contact the rsync and CVS maintainer to get a proper statement).
b) * Robert McQueen maintains a Debian package for Unison. The
homepage is located at
http://packages.debian.org/testing/non-us/unison.html.
First the maintainer name is not correct (but this might be an
error on my on, I simply looked at the current package in
Debian), but more importantly the URL is 404. The correct URL is
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?searchon=names&version=all&exact=1&keywords=unison
or, mor simply
http://packages.debian.org/unison
