what's in there is the index.php for a simple app that lists the
index files created by indexmaker.

Check the configuration file. Maybe you have overwritten it during the
upgrade?

Here's the mrtg.cfg file. These five lines represent the entire thing. There were originally a lot more Include directives and Forks was set to 8, I reduced them for troubleshooting:

RunAsDaemon: Yes
Interval: 5
Forks: 2
Include: mrtg/slcigw1.cfg
Include: mrtg/slcigw2.cfg

I rebuilt the two included files using cfgmaker, with a command like this:

cfgmaker --no-down -ifref=name -ifdesc=name --global "WithPeak[_]: ymwd" --global "WriteExpires: Yes" --global "Options[_]: bits, growright, unknaszero" --global "Workdir: /var/www/mrtg" --global "Directory[_]: slcigw1" commun...@slcigw1.redacted.com:::::2 > slcigw1.cfg

Both devices are Cisco 7206VXR routers running 12.4 IOS. I can't see any problems with the generated cfg files.

The SNMP configuration has remained unchanged on the routers, and as you can see below, they have not had any software upgrades:

slcigw1 uptime is 2 years, 40 weeks, 4 days, 9 hours, 57 minutes
slcigw2 uptime is 1 year, 12 weeks, 6 days, 3 hours, 54 minutes

Tell me what you would like me to do for debugging purposes. I've already tried to get mrtg itself to do debugs, but it doesn't seem willing to tell me what's wrong. I am reasonably competent in Perl, if you want me to make any changes for debugging to the mrtg script itself. Due to the size and complexity, I have not tried to examine the script.
