This sounds like a mismatched toolchain problem. I had this same problem when I had a kernel installed that was compiled with an older version of gcc, and then installed util-vserver_0.30.208-2 which had been compiled with the newer gcc4.0. What kernel revision are you running and what vserver patch? What gcc did you use to compile your kernel?
