Package: php-elisp
Version: 1.5.0-1.1
Severity: normal

When php-elisp is installed, running

    xemacs21 -q /tmp/x.php

gets an error

File mode specification error: (invalid-read-syntax ")")

I see /usr/lib/emacsen-common/packages/install/php-elisp deliberately
skips xemacs, but it looks like /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50php-elisp.el

(autoload 'php-mode "php-elisp/php-mode" "mode for editing php files" t)

picks up /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/php-elisp/php-mode.el because
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp is in the usual xemacs load-path.

Perhaps 50php-elisp.el could confine its setups to relevant emacsen by
checking for the byte compile flavour directory -- as currently
commented out, and preferably using debian-emacs-flavor which I believe
is the documented flavour variable.

Bug #584785 might address this too.
