Package: linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64
Version: 3.2.15-1

I can confirm this bug in sid running kernel

$ uname -a
Linux volticor 3.2.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Apr 15 16:47:38 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I am able to get the device working easily enough by a slight modification of the above fix for squeeze:

First load the module since it won't load automatically (note you need the non-free firmware-ralink package installed):

$ modprobe rt2800usb

Second tell the module to assoicate with the usbID of the device:

$ echo "1737 0078" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/rt2800usb/new_id

After that I am able to use the wireless device normally.
