Dear Maintainer and Stefan Seide,
I have Epson Perfection V300 scanner and it has been working before this
on my squeeze system and now on my wheezy - after adding permission to
use the device by editing /lib/udev/rules.d/60-libsane.rules
by hand.

The software I'm using when scanning images is the Gimp, the xsane
interface in there: File -> Create -> Xsane -> Device dialog.
