There's already a Makefile in en-US/images/ to regenerate them.

Auto-regenerating them is also a risk of breaking the generated images in
some cases (I have seen dia being confused about the path of the images
that it embeds).

Right. The chap-* pictures are also not used by the current HTML version.
This will reduce the size of the package tremendously.
