Hi, I saw this as well. Upon running me-tv with -v, I could see that the behaviour occurred during the time that the EPG data was updating (a lot on first run, of course).
At the time when it output "EPG update complete", the UI started to respond and function appropriately. I have no time to look at code, but perhaps the EPG update needs to run in its own thread?
