Package: mysql-server-5.5
Version: 5.5.24+dfsg-4
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After a recent upgrade of mysql-server I noticed that for an extended period
of time mysqld was using in excess of 100% of cpu on an dual core machine.
There were no connections to the database (I only use it for mythtv and all
those instances were shutdown for maintenance).

Following this I did a complete purge and re-install of all the mysql
components - mysql-common
             mysql-client-5,5
                                 mysql-server-core-5.5
                                 mysql-server-5.5
This included ensuring that the datastore in /var/lib/mysql was deleted, as was
/etc/mysql

After this complete reinstall, with no other databases that the ones created by
the package install the behaviour continued.

I am considering a downgrade to 5.1 simply because this situation is untenable
for a service that recieves minimal use. This was not a problem I had with 5.1,
so I am confident that it has something to do with the 5.5 packages.
