There's a new version (well, a developement snapshot of the upcoming
4.1.0 upstream release) of screen in Debian Unstable and it will
likely hit Debian Testing next week.
Do you have access to an installation (or chroot) of Debian Unstable
or Debian Testing to check if you can still reproduce the issue there?
At least I can't reproduce it in Unstable with running a script like
this:
while :; do screen -r & sleep 0.5; screen -S pts-5 -X detach; sleep 1.5; done
But I can't remember having seen it in stable either. :-/
