I fixed this upstream as soon as I heard of it, in early July (r9573). I seem to have forgotten to CC the Debian bug report when I notified Colin that I'd committed the fix; I apologise if that caused a delay. If you're happy to rebuild and test modified versions, could I persuade you to check my fix, by applying the patch at http://svn.tartarus.org/sgt/putty/unix/gtkwin.c?r1=9568&r2=9573&view=patch against the standard Debian source package, and see if it solves the problem for you?
