Package: acpi-support-base Version: 0.141-1 Severity: normal
Hi. This is probably difficult to trace down, especially as the VM is running at some ISP, who likely does not want to share many details about his infrastructure, versions, etc. Every time, when I upgrade acpi-support-base it hangs up the system for ~3-5 minutes: Setting up acpi-fakekey (0.141-1) ... Starting acpi_fakekey daemon...done. Setting up acpi-support-base (0.141-1) ... stopping here Setting up acpi-support (0.141-1) ... There are no kernel messages, the only messags to syslog are: Oct 12 19:13:36 hilbert kernel: [408626.174488] input: ACPI Virtual Keyboard Device as /devices/virtual/input/input6 Oct 12 19:13:36 hilbert acpid: exiting Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: starting up with netlink and the input layer Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/asus-wireless-off.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/ac.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/asus-wireless-on.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/asus-touchpad.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/sony-volume-up.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-lock.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/sony-eject.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/sleepbtn.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/thinkpad-cmos.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/asus-rotate.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-next.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/sony-brightness-down.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-prev.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/thinkpad-volume-up.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/sony-volume-down.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/thinkpad-mute.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/thinkpad-volume-down.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-mail.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/thinkpad-wireless-wlan.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/lidbtn.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/sony-brightness-up.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/lenovo-touchpad.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/asus-media-eject.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-wireless.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-ibutton.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-battery.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/battery.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-hibernate.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/suspendbtn.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/sony-sleep.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/sony-mute.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/lenovo-undock.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/ibm-wireless.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-media.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/panasonic-lockbtn.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/asus-f8sv-touchpad.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-www.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/asus-video.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/asus-wireless-wlan.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-stop.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: skipping conf file /etc/acpi/events/tosh-play.dpkg-new Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: 44 rules loaded Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: waiting for events: event logging is off Oct 12 19:16:30 hilbert acpid: exiting Oct 12 19:16:31 hilbert acpid: starting up with netlink and the input layer Oct 12 19:16:31 hilbert acpid: 44 rules loaded Oct 12 19:16:31 hilbert acpid: waiting for events: event logging is off With 19:13:36 begin the time where the upgrade was made. After words, the system continues as if nothing had happened. It also happened when I run the upgrade from within screen (I susepcted any network issues like short interruptions). During the freeze,.. networking also stops... no pings or further ssh connections work. Perhaps any ideas?
