Unfortunately you are right. We have worked in the past on version 15 and in principle it was working. But there are problems with the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. In fact of no free time to work deeper on this no version 15 has arrived the experimental repo of Debian. But we are confident to start some packaging work for version 16 next week.
