>The script is only placed in examples/. According to `dpkg --listfiles mrtg-contrib`, the package contains only files placed in examples. So, it is not just extra stuff in the package, the whole package is extra stuff.
<http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s12.6> does not state that the content of examples, considered as documentation, is granted specific rules in regard of dependancies. >And it certainly doesn't >"provide a significant amount of functionality". So a dependencies on these >modules isn't necessary. Certainly it would be nicer if the package >could state which packages are needed by the script by declaring >"suggests" on them No, it cannot be the case since these examples are clearly not for a Debian GNU/Linux system. > but that is hardly an RC bug. Well, if there's a policy violation, I think I picked the appropriate severity. If there's not, maybe the policy should mention that common debian rules does not applies to examples/ content (If it already does, it should be mentioned in 12.6). So, in your opinion, is it a policy violation, a flaw in the policy or something in the policy I missed and that's is not proeminently mentioned in section 12.6?
