Maybe we should poke rleigh about making initscripts non-essential and evaluate what would need to be changed for this to work, like moving /bin/mountpoint to another package, testing insserv in such a setup, etc. Unfortunately the corresponding bug for sysvinit [1] is stalled atm. Anyone interested/willing to push this forward?
