Package: plymouth Version: 0.8.8-1 Followup-For: Bug #687500 I've begun experiencing this issue since my update to GDM 3.6 from Experimental, with GDM 3.4 there seemed to be no issue with Plymouth handing off to GDM once the computer finished booting.
Occasionally I can drop to a console and restart GDM manually to get the display manager to come up, more often though I do not seem to be able to drop to the console. Occasionally I've noticed an error message related to the Plymouth service failing to start when I shutdown the computer after a failed boot (I'll try to get the exact error message later, it does not seem to be logged...), I suspect it may be a clue as to why Plymouth fails to hand off properly to the display manager once the computer finishes booting. I should note that I am using a graphical splash screen, I do not currently know if a text theme would exhibit the same issues. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers experimental APT policy: (650, 'experimental'), (650, 'unstable'), (600, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.6-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages plymouth depends on: ii initramfs-tools 0.109 ii libc6 2.13-36 ii multiarch-support 2.13-36 plymouth recommends no packages.
