what version do you really use? stable, stable-security, stable-bpo? Why not use unofficial backported version of icedove from Mike? http://wiki.debian.org/Icedove#BackPorts If your error still exits and/or you are not willing to upgrade to a version higher than stable or stable-security please provide a GDB log. To do this please look on http://wiki.debian.org/Icedove#Debugging and append the log files.
