It won't happen with this version of the client.  It's pretty much been
in maintenance mode since about 2009.  However, upstream is working on a
new version here:

  https://github.com/lastfm/lastfm-desktop

While their main focus is Win/Mac, they do support Linux.  They're also
friendly and open to pull requests.  If you're not willing to add the
feature yourself, I'll put it on my TODO list, but it may take longer :)
