Okay, so it broken in 4.4.0-3, but it worked in 4.4.0-2? Or does it not work for you with any 4.4.0 version of php4-gd? If it broke in 4.4.0-3 (but worked in 4.4.0-2), are you using safe_mode, and do you not own the directory you're writing to? Just a hunch. ...
