Package: ircd-hybrid Version: 1:8.0.4.dfsg.1-1 Severity: wishlist Can i recommend/request making ircd-hybrid 8 a separate package (such as ircd-hybrid8)? Given that apparently version 7 and version 8 servers are incompatible when peering. (and on a minor note, the config files/option names have changed a good bit where manual fixing of config files may be required by the user).
Creating a separate package would stop people having to downgrade in the future if they upgrade to 8 and therefore can't connect to their irc network any more. I'd be in favour of having a version 8 package available as an option though to install side by side.
