Found the culprit in my setup.

It was due to the case that XEN was configured to un-plug 2 CPUs for dom0.
This happens after "/etc/init.d/sysstat start" has been run so the file gets corrupt.

Not sure if this should be worked around in sysstat or if it's wrong to use this function.


My new solution is to use the XEN boot parameter dom0_max_vcpus to configure how many CPUs are available in dom0. Then they don't change during startup and sysstat is happy.
