It's IMO not too surprising that the old icedove-gcontactsync from stable doesn't work with the newer icedove from testing/squeeze-backports. Could you try with icedove-gcontactsync 0.3.5-1 from testing, please? At least https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/gcontactsync/ claims "Works with Thunderbird 2.0.0.8 - 20.0a1".
