Thanks for reporting this and pointing out the fix! This should be
included in tig-1.1-1, which is currently available in experimental.
Would you mind double-checking that?

I do consider this to be an important bug and I should be able to get it
into Wheezy through unstable (unless any build-deps come into the way).
So, I hope to get the fix into Wheezy.
