Package: plymouth Version: 0.8.8-5 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
Upgrading 'libpango1.0-0' from v1.30.0-1 (wheezy/sid) to v 1.32.5-1 (experimental) causes the plymouth initramfs hook to fail since the path to 'libpango1.0-0.modules' changes and this path is hardcoded into the hook. The following error is generated on trying to update the initramfs after the libpango1.0-0 upgrade (can be triggred through an apt-get update too) update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.7-trunk+illuminati-ox- amd64-hp6910p cp: cannot stat `/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pango/1.6.0/module- files.d/libpango1.0-0.modules': No such file or directory E: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/plymouth failed with return 1. update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-3.7-trunk+illuminati-ox- amd64-hp6910p with 1. v1.32.5-1 of 'libpango1.0-0' places 'libpango1.0-0.modules' in location '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pango/1.8.0/module-files.d/' [note change from 1.6.0 to 1.8.0] This leads me to believe that plymouth probably needs to have its dependency restriction on 'libpango1.0-0' updated to include an upper limit on version number too. I have not tested whether or not plymouth actually works with the new version of 'libpango1.0-0'. If it does then maybe either some logic in the plymouth initramfs hook to search for 'libpango1.0-0.modules' dynamically or a separate version of plymouth in "experimental" is more appropriate. I hope this helps.
