Several yeas later, facebook created flashcache based on mingzhao's dm-cache when SSD becomes popular, then STEC, Inc created enahnceIO based on flashcache.
DM-cache merged to upstream kernel in 3.9-rc1 is not the one wrote by mingzhao, but from RedHat, I don't know whether it has any relation with mingzhao's dm-cache.
