I am not aware of changing anything by hand. In fact, this is an almost pristine wheezy installation. I could now work around the problem by purging python2.6-minimal (no idea why it was installed in the first place). I cannot check whether reinstalling would make the problem appear again, but should be able to later. Did you have both python-minimal packages installed? thanks, Frank
