Gazebo is one of the most active and advanced robotics simulator.
It is widely adopted in the robotics community and is used in the context of
the DARPA robotics challenge (http://gazebosim.org/wiki/DRC).

As a part of the Open Source Robotics Foundation (OSRF), deb files are already
provided to install this software but no effort has been done yet toward an
official Debian package.

Description:
 Gazebo is a multi-robot simulator for outdoor environments. Like
 Stage (part of the Player project), it is capable of simulating a
 population of robots, sensors and objects, but does so in a
 three-dimensional world. It generates both realistic sensor feedback
 and physically plausible interactions between objects (it includes an
 accurate simulation of rigid-body physics).
