It would have been nice to have a comment stating this to the bug
report to avoid more time to be wasted.

Which ones?

Currently, I use cut&paste and manual delete from dpkg-checkbuilddev's
output, a process I have become accustomed to in the last nine and a
half years since this bug was filed.
