A restart of your desktop session is definitely desirable after a squeeze -> wheezy dist-upgrade. I even think we should advice users to *not* upgrade from within a running X/GNOME session but from the console. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
