Indeed, your log confirms that. Can you try to install libfprint 0.5.0-4 from 
Debian snapshots [0] ?

I have backported an upstream patch [1] to the -5 revision, which might 
conflict with your device, so confirming that it works with libfprint 0.5.0-4 
would confirm that this patch is at fault.
