Package: libghc-readline-dev Version: 1.0.3.0-1 Currently, libghc-readline-dev depends on libreadline6, but not on libreadline6-dev. However, it is unusable without libreadline6-dev. Both compiling a program that uses System.Console.Readline using ghc and loading such program using ghci results in error. The error message from ghc is:
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lreadline collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status The error message from ghci is: can't load .so/.DLL for: libreadline.so (libreadline.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory) Installing libghc-readline-dev solves both problems. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable'), (100, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.9-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libghc-readline-dev depends on: ii ghc [libghc-process-dev-1.1.0.2-76e05] 7.6.3-3 ii libc6 2.17-5 pn libghc-base-dev-4.6.0.1-8aa5d <none> ii libncurses5 5.9+20130608-1 ii libreadline6 6.2+dfsg-0.1 ii libtinfo5 5.9+20130608-1 libghc-readline-dev recommends no packages.
