Package: man-db Version: 2.6.3-7 Severity: wishlist File: /usr/bin/whatis Dear Maintainer,
I think the man page description for the whatis command is a little bit ambiguous. The short descriptin in the NAME section whatis - display manual page descriptions could also mean that it displays the descriptions in the DESCRIPTION section. It would be better to write something like this whatis - display short man page name description Greetings and thanks jb -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages man-db depends on: ii bsdmainutils 9.0.5 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.50 ii dpkg 1.16.10 ii groff-base 1.22.2-3 ii libc6 2.17-5 ii libgdbm3 1.8.3-12 ii libpipeline1 1.2.4-1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-1 man-db recommends no packages.
