Package: eclipse Version: 3.8.0~rc4-1 Followup-For: Bug #684604 Hi,
I have had the same (or a very similar) problem. I have solved it on my own but I wanted to tell my experience to help for a better resolution. Basically, I had done a complete reinstall of my PC (formerly with architecture i386, new with amd64, in case it's important), but kept my home drive (with workspaces and ~/.eclipse directories). Using the command /usr/lib/eclipse/eclipse -consoleLog -debug, I noticed error messages regarding missing plugin libraries (com.android.... Sorry, I didn't keep it). The solution was then to open a new workspace, reinstall all the missing plugins, and then restart into the old "faulty" workspace, which worked without further issue. One of my tries was to delete ~/.eclipse but it didn't help, but perhaps it was part of the final resolution, difficult to tell now. Two last remarks: 1. Perhaps not all plugins lead to this issue, I suspect strongly the Android ADT plugin and/or dependencies, but I had other plugins like egit. 2. Even if it's possible to overcome this issue of missing plugins, it should still be handled more nicely by eclipse, providing a clear message to the user about missing plugins and allowing him/her to install these missing plugins, without having to create a new workspace to do this.
