Hi; I'm forwarding this bug report from Ubuntu; the original bug report is available here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vidalia/+bug/680192. The apparmor-profile is not configured to allow vidalia to have access to the tor binary, and so it cannot start or stop tor. Adding /usr/sbin/tor Ux, to debian/apparmor-profile fixes this issue -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers raring-updates APT policy: (500, 'raring-updates'), (500, 'raring-security'), (500, 'raring') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.8.0-27-generic (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages vidalia depends on: ii adduser 3.113+nmu3ubuntu1 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.49ubuntu1 ii libc6 2.17-0ubuntu5 ii libgcc1 1:4.7.3-1ubuntu1 ii libqt4-network 4:4.8.4+dfsg-0ubuntu9.2 ii libqt4-xml 4:4.8.4+dfsg-0ubuntu9.2 ii libqtcore4 4:4.8.4+dfsg-0ubuntu9.2 ii libqtgui4 4:4.8.4+dfsg-0ubuntu9.2 ii libstdc++6 4.7.3-1ubuntu1 ii tor 0.2.3.25-1 ii ucf 3.0025+nmu3 vidalia recommends no packages.
