I don't think upstream is actively working on the original ardentryst anymore (please correct me if I'm wrong), but if you have any patches on hand, please send them directly upstream. I'm personally not all that concerned about this bug, and I'd rather just tag this as wontfix in Debian's BTS unless you or upstream have any objections.
