Dear Daniel, Thank you for your interest in GNUnet and for your work. I also worked on the new upstream version but the packaging is far from finished too [1]. Some of our changes are identical, but I plan to pick some of your commits.
To be honest, I never know where to put binaries between the client, the server and the common package. Sometimes I even think to merge these, but that would be shame. Your changes in the area are more than welcome. I also think to make it multiarch, but the hard part would be move to dh9, with paths like /usr/lib/x86-64/...
