rm -rf foo mkdir foo cd foo wget https://winetricks.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/winetricks WINEPREFIX=`pwd`/wineprefix export WINEPREFIX WINEARCH=win32 export WINEARCH wine --version sh winetricks -q python26 and this did indeed fail with err:msi:ACTION_InstallFiles compressed file wasn't installed (L"C:\\Python26\\Lib\\test\\readme.txt") when run with wine-1.4.1, but succeeded when run with wine-1.7.
