Package: ruby1.9-elisp
Version: 1.9.0.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
I have Email 24.3.1 installed, and it is my default emacs. When I type
a left curly brace in an emacs buffer in ruby mode, it beeps and says
Symbol's value as variable is void: last-command-char
Pressing left curly brace multiple times repeats the behavior. No left
curly brace appears in the buffer. This problem does not appear in
Emacs 23.

Steps to reproduce the bug.
1. Running X11
2. In a terminal type "emacs24 --no-init-file /tmp/foo.rb". The
--no-init-file is present to make sure it's not something from one
   of my .emacs file settings.
3. The Emacs24 window appears, and it's open to the foo.rb empty file.
4. Type "4.times {". The left curly brace problem shows itself.
5. Press '{' multiple times to repeat the bug.

The outcome is a beep and no left curly brace appearing.
I expected a left curly brace to appear in my buffer.
