> Can you share the error message?

Error message was quite useless:
$ eiskaltdcpp-cli-jsonrpc
Can't call method "version" on an undefined value at
/usr/bin/eiskaltdcpp-cli-jsonrpc line 100.

eval method written in that way did not work as expected in case when
JSON::RPC::Client is unavailable and only JSON::RPC::Legacy::Client is present
in a system.

> Was it broken two months ago when you released 2.2.9-1?

This problem was unreproducible on my laptop while I had both versions of
libjson-rpc-perl in my system. (I have installed old version manually from cpan
long time ago and forgot about it.) When user reported the problem I had found
and had deleted old module and problem has appeared in my system.

The patch is appeared to be very simple:
https://github.com/eiskaltdcpp/eiskaltdcpp/commit/1d41324

Sorry for disturbing.

Best regards,
Boris
