Package: dictionaries-common Version: 1.20.3 Severity: normal /usr/share/dict/words was a broken symlink since /etc/dictionaries-common/words was never created.
I tried dpkg-reconfigure dictionaries-common; it let me choose the american word list, but this did not cause the file to be created. Finally, running select-default-wordlist did add the missing link. Since I use etckeeper, I can see that I first installed dictionaries-common, along with aspell, on September 3rd. That apt run created only (relevantly): dictionaries-common/ispell-default | 0 emacs/site-start.d/50dictionaries-common.el | 40 + I upgraded to 1.20.3 on Sep 20th. AFAICS, /etc/dictionaries-common/words was never created on this system. Looks like wamerican was installed a few hours before dictionaries-common, during initial installation of this system. My guess is that something in the trigger handling does not properly handle this case of the word list being installed first. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.10-3-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages dictionaries-common depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.52 ii libtext-iconv-perl 1.7-5+b1 dictionaries-common recommends no packages.
