indeed, when comparing the uploaded files, they have minor differences
(such as different ordering of HTML attributes).

But I recall that previously, it would replace the existing mail. Maybe
it is due to my changed IMAP setup (with shared namespaces)...

ah, reading from the code I see that changing a mail simply deletes it
and uploads a new one (def updatemail). So that cannot work with shared
namespaces where every user has its own metadata, but I don’t know if
IMAP even offers a working way here.

I’ll see it works better without per-user metadata.
