I did include --debian-installer-distribution daily in the config but found
it still behind a build curve stuck at 3.11-1-amd64 while the sid kernel
has moved to 3.11-2-amd64.

For informational purposes, the debian-installer did continue but once it
got to the partition creations, there was no ext support at all

I did resolve this by adding the following udebs to /config/packages.binary
and start the build again

core-modules-3.11-2-amd64-di_3.11.8-1_amd64.udeb
crc-modules-3.11-2-amd64-di_3.11.8-1_amd64.udeb
ext4-modules-3.11-2-amd64-di_3.11.8-1_amd64.udeb
kernel-image-3.11-2-amd64-di_3.11.8-1_amd64.udeb

The build completed, the live-cd and installation worked perfectly
