you allready use the deprecated version from stable? We wont do any work
on this old ESR version.

If the error happen on the latest 17.0.10 in stable-security please
create a debugging log with the icedove debug package [1]. Without any
output we can't catch anything.
Please try before to start Icedove without any extension in safe-mode.
