Hi,

building the package whizzytex in a clean sid build environment
(with pbuilder) on i386 results in:

  einitex seems to have problems building format latex for latex
  It could be a problem with einitex, format extension efmt, 
  or the initial latex.efmt may not be availableb.
  See initex.log

Running LATEX=latex ... kpathsea: Running mktexfmt dummy.fmt
fmtutil: no info for format `dummy'.

    latex installation seem to have problems. 
    See dummy.tex and latex.log

Makefile.config is likely to be incorrect. 
Maybe you just need to reconfigure. Edit Makefile.config or type:

      make config

If you wish to continue, despite errors, type:
   
      make force
