Package: nginx Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
The free version of nginx doesn't have any syslog features. These very important for advanced logging, and the existing workarounds that don't require modifying nginx, like logging to a named pipe have performance and/or reliability problems. The "udplog" module available at https://github.com/vkholodkov/nginx-udplog-module works reliably and allows one to log to a syslog daemon listening on a UDP socket. This would be a very welcome addition to the nginx package in Debian. If you decide to include udp log, make sure to get the code tagged as "1.0.0c" in the above repository, as currently the master branch contains non-working code. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers saucy-updates APT policy: (500, 'saucy-updates'), (500, 'saucy-security'), (500, 'saucy'), (100, 'saucy-backports') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.11.0-13-generic (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
