Package: kbd
Version: 1.15.5-1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

This package uses open(1).
This usage is neither standard (in terms of LSB and POSIX) nor popular.

The unpopularity can be seen as BusyBox implements openvt(1) only [1]
while toybox
has no plan for openvt(1) or open(1) [2].

Meanwhile, some other OS like OSX (and probably Haiku) use open(1) to provide
desktop integration [3]. Similar functionality is provided by xdg-open(1) now on
Linux. Some people, including I, believe that giving open(1) to xdg stuff is
probably a good idea [4][5].

The very first step would be discontinue open(1) that is symbol linked to
openvt(1). In other words, it is to remove open(1) from this package.
