Package: fontconfig Version: 2.11.0-2 Severity: normal File: /usr/bin/fc-cache
* What led up to the situation? I have a collection of fonts in my ~/.fonts folder. One of the fonts is a Hebrew font called "Aharoni Bold". The file name is ahronbd.ttf. This file existed in my ~/.fonts folder for a Wheezy installation with XFCE. I then performed a distribution upgrade to Jessie. When I logged in for the first time, XFCE's panels wouldn't load. They crashed and retried over and over. Eventually I narrowed it down to a problem with my ~/.fonts folder, and later to that specific font. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I remove and readded fonts to my ~/.fonts folder and ran "fc-cache -fv" until I identified which font was causing the segmentation fault. * What was the outcome of this action? Removing that font resolved the issue. * What outcome did you expect instead? I expected the font to be handled properly as it is in Wheezy. Here is a link that can be used to download the font in question: http://fontzone.net/font-details/aharoni-bold This issue is important because this font is also included in a default Windows 7/Windows 8 installation, so there may be many users who have copied their fonts over from Windows and may encounter this problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (500, 'testing-updates'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.11-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages fontconfig depends on: ii fontconfig-config 2.11.0-2 ii libc6 2.17-97 ii libexpat1 2.1.0-4 ii libfontconfig1 2.11.0-2 ii libfreetype6 2.5.1-1 fontconfig recommends no packages. fontconfig suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
